Journal of Pain Research Jan 05, 2019
Yu Y, et al. - Researchers conducted this meta-analysis of 9 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of pregabalin in preventing postoperative pain in thoracotomy with 684 patients, to identify the efficacy of pregabalin for management of postoperative pain in thoracotomy. Pregabalin was identified to induce favorable effects including less pain on a 0–10 scale on 1 day, 3 days, 1 month, 3 months postoperatively, and less incidence of neuropathic pain, less mean morphine consumption, but more dizziness, more drowsiness, and less constipation. Findings thereby suggest that in management of acute and persistent postoperative pain in thoracotomy, pregabalin is a valuable asset.
