The efficacy of abdominal binders in reducing postoperative pain and distress after cesarean delivery: A meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials
European Journal of Obstetrics & Gynecology and Reproductive Biology May 14, 2021
Di Mascio D, Caruso G, Prata G, et al. - Through performing a comprehensive search in electronic databases (MEDLINE, EMBASE, and Cochrane Central) up to February 2021, researchers sought to assess the effectiveness of abdominal binders in reducing postoperative pain, patient distress and surgical postoperative sequelae after cesarean delivery (CD). The sample consisted of 601 women: 310 (51.6 %) were randomized to the abdominal binder and 291 (48.4 %) to no abdominal binder group. According to the current meta-analysis, the use of abdominal binders after CD substantially decreases patient pain.
