Arthritis & Rheumatology Apr 13, 2019
Felson DT, et al. - Authors examined 83 candidates to study the effectiveness of lateral wedge insole for painful medial knee osteoarthritis succeeding prescreening. They noted the mean ± SD age of 64.2 ± 9.1 years and 37.1% of the total were women. They found that lateral wedge insoles allowed a greater decline in knee pain when compared with neutral insoles with a mean difference of 0.7 on 0–10 scale. The clinical significance was reported in only a minority of cases because the effect of treatment was small.
