The efficacy and safety of knotless barbed sutures in total joint arthroplasty: A meta-analysis of randomized-controlled trials
Archives of Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgery Jun 21, 2018
Han Y, et al. - Researchers conducted a meta-analysis to assess the efficacy and safety of the knotless barbed sutures (KBS) in total joint arthroplasty (TJA). Results demonstrated the safety and efficacy of KBS for TJA. They identified the randomized-controlled trials (RCTs) from the PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane Library databases up to October 2017. As per data, the wound suture time and the wound suture cost was reduced with KBS and the rate of complications or intraoperative events was not significantly increased. ROM did not differ significantly at postoperative 6 weeks and 3 months.
