The effects of endoscopic sinus surgery on voice characteristics in chronic rhinosinusitis patients
Annals of Otology, Rhinology & Laryngology Jul 24, 2019
Jandali DB, et al. - Researchers conducted this prospective study to quantitatively evaluate the impacts of functional endoscopic sinus surgery (FESS) on postoperative voice characteristics in chronic rhinosinusitis (CRS) patients. The study sample consisted of patients with severe CRS who had FESS at a tertiary care referral center between May and October 2017. Eighteen CRS patients undergoing FESS were recruited. Following FESS, CRS patients experience significant improvements in voice characteristics and vocal quality of life. In addition, this seems to correlate with a significant reduction in the severity of the self-reported disease. These findings could increase the discussion of FESS' potential benefits to a new potential voice quality domain.
