The effectiveness of lateral ankle ligament reconstruction when treating chronic ankle instability: A systematic review and meta-analysis

Lu A, Wang X, Huang D, et al. - Researchers investigated the overall effectiveness of various lateral ankle ligament reconstruction methods for chronic ankle ligament instability. From PubMed and EMBASE databases, they included 12 articles in the quantitative analysis via performing full-text reading and data inclusion. Among them, treatment was provided to 476 patients (485 ankle joints). Outcomes suggest that for chronic ankle instability, reconstruction of the lateral ankle ligament is a relatively stable treatment. They favor undertaking autologous reconstruction method.
