Photodermatology, Photoimmunology and Photomedicine Mar 23, 2020
Park JB, et al. - This is the first case study examining the efficacy of high‐dose ultraviolet A‐1 (UVA‐1) phototherapy for treating acute exacerbation of atopic dermatitis (AD) in Asian individuals. Study participants included 16 patients [between 7 and 50 years of age, with a mean age of 25.8 years] with acute exacerbation of AD. UVA‐1 therapy was used with high dose (100 J/cm2) regimens. Of the 14 individuals who finished the 10 high‐dose UVA‐1 phototherapy sessions, nine patients (64.3%) had full remission and five patients (35.7%) had partial remission. According to findings, high‐dose UVA‐1 phototherapy may be a well‐tolerated and effective treatment for acute exacerbated AD.
