The effect of vitamin D supplementation on bone metabolic markers in chronic kidney disease

Yadav AK, et al. - The goal of this secondary analysis was to analyze bone turnover in subjects who completed the randomized, double blind, placebo controlled trial investigating the impact of cholecalciferol supplementation on vascular function in non-diabetic CKD stage G3-4 and vitamin D ≤20ng/ml. Findings demonstrated that corrected vitamin D deficiency and an effective lowering of serum intact parathyroid hormone and bone turnover markers were evident in early stages of CKD as a result of supplementation with cholecalciferol.
