Oral Diseases Aug 12, 2018
Yang LY, et al. - Researchers used a single-blinded repeated-measures study design to assess the effect of a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) program for hemodialysis on patients’ dry mouth and salivary flow rates. For this investigation, 80 subjects were randomly assigned to a treatment group receiving a 250μs; 50Hz TENS program, and a control group receiving a 50μs; 2Hz TENS program at acupoints ST 6 and TE17 three times a week for 3 weeks. During and one week after the TENS sessions, whole salivary flow rates and dry mouth intensity improving were only observed.
