Uzel MM, et al. - The effect of trabeculectomy on serum brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) levels was evaluated in this trial. Authors also compared the serum and aqueous humor (AH) BDNF levels in primary open-angle glaucoma (POAG) and control subjects. A positive effect of trabeculectomy on the serum BDNF levels in POAG cases was noted.
