The effect of patient gender on outcomes after reverse total shoulder arthroplasty

Wong SE, et al. - This study assessed the impact of gender on preoperative disability and patient-reported outcomes following reverse total shoulder arthroplasty. Male and female patients who underwent operation exhibited similar improvements in pain and range of motion, however, men achieved higher American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) function and 12-Item Short Form Health Survey (SF-12) Physical Component Summary scores. Differences in activities of daily living pointed towards the possibility of women being more functionally impaired.
