The effect of nitrous oxide on the outcomes of underlay tympanoplasty: A prospective study

Düzenli U, et al. - In this prospective study, researchers analyzed the surgical results of the underlay tympanoplasty performed with nitrous oxide (N2O) anesthesia. For this investigation, they included patients who had tympanoplasty. Using the underlay technique, a type 1 tympanoplasty was performed in all patients. There were 44 patients receiving N2O and 44 not receiving N2O. According to findings, N2O is an anesthetic agent that is cheap, safe and readily available that provides acceptable success rates in patients undergoing tympanoplasty.
