The effect of lidocaine and tramadol in nasal packs on pain after septoplasty
European Archives of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology Mar 16, 2019
Simsek T, et al. - Using visual analog scale (VAS) in the postoperative period in patients undergoing septoplasty operation, a sum of 122 candidates were estimated to examine the analgesic outcomes of tramadol-absorbed merocel nasal packings and lidocaine-absorbed merocel nasal packings. They observed no distinction between the number of male and female subjects. They calculated the postoperative pain with VAS scores periodically in postoperative 5 min to 24 h in all groups. A statistically significant difference between the tramadol–lidocaine vs tramadol–control group was also recorded. They reported a decline in the requirement of additional analgesics in the postoperative period with tramadol infiltrated to nasal packings leading to an increase in satisfaction of cases, decrease in the length of hospital stay, and finally decline in the rate of secondary infections.
