The effect of intra-articular glucocorticosteroids and exercise on symptoms and bone marrow lesions in knee osteoarthritis: A secondary analysis of results from a randomized controlled trial

Nielsen FK, et al. - Experts herein assessed whether the relative volume of bone marrow lesions (BMLs) changed in cases with knee osteoarthritis (OA) during a therapeutic study. Findings demonstrated that compared to placebo injection and exercise, statistically significant difference in BML volume at 14 weeks after corticosteroid injection and 12 weeks exercise therapy was noted. However, there was very little evidence on a relationship between corticosteroids and BML volume.
