The effect of increasing dialysate magnesium on serum calcification propensity in subjects with end stage kidney disease: A randomized, controlled clinical trial
Clinical Journal of the American Society of Nephrology Aug 31, 2018
Bressendorff I, et al. - Researchers gauged if increasing serum magnesium increases serum calcification propensity in subjects with end-stage kidney disease (ESKD). As per data, in subjects undergoing maintenance hemodialysis, serum calcification propensity is increased with increasing dialysate magnesium. At baseline, serum calcification propensity was 233±81 minutes (mean±SD) and at follow-up, it was 229±93 minutes in the standard dialysate magnesium group, whereas serum calcification propensity in the high dialysate magnesium group was 247±69 minutes at baseline and 302±66 minutes at follow-up.
