The effect of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy combined with hair transplantation surgery for the treatment of alopecia
Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology Aug 12, 2020
Fan ZX, Gan Y, Qu Q, et al. - Via randomly dividing 34 patients with II‐IV alopecia into the control group and Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) group, researchers sought to assess the clinical effectiveness of Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) as adjuvant therapy for hair transplantation surgery. The control group were treated with routine FUE procedure, whereas HBOT group combined with HBOT. During HBOT, patients were treated with 100% oxygen under 2.0 atmospheres absolute pressure for 60 minutes through a facemask and continuously take the therapy for 7 days after surgery. According to results, HBOT is capable of reducing postoperative follicle shedding and contributing to less folliculitis and itching, which is evidence that HBOT serves as an adjuvant treatment for hair transplantation surgery.
