The effect of epidural nalbuphine combined with ropivacaine on epidural analgesia during labor: A multicenter, randomized, double-blind, controlled study
Clinical Journal of Pain May 21, 2021
Sun X, Zhou Q, Zhou M, et al. - Researchers undertook a prospective, randomized, double-blind, multicentre clinical trial to compare the effectiveness of epidural nalbuphine and sufentanil in combination with ropivacaine for labor analgesia, respectively. Randomization of parturients who requested labor pain relief was done to either the nalbuphine group or sufentanil group. Following 5 minutes of initial dose, 10 mL 0.1% ropivacaine plus 0.3 mg/mL nalbuphine solution was administered to parturients in nalbuphine group. The same ropivacaine dose plus 0.3 μg/mL sufentanil was given to the sufentanil group. Findings revealed inferior analgesia effects of 0.3 mg/mL nalbuphine with ropivacaine when compared with those of 0.3 μg/mL sufentanil with ropivacaine in labor analgesia. There occurred no serious side effects, neither in the mother nor in the fetus.
