The effect of atorvastatin on pancreatic beta cell requirement in women with polycystic ovary syndrome
Endocrine Connections Oct 15, 2017
Sathyapalan T, et al. - This study is performed to investigate the impact of atorvastatin on pancreatic beta cell requirement in women with polycystic ovary syndrome. Based on these outcomes, treatment with atorvastatin for 3 months in women with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) significantly decreased pancreatic beta cell requirement as measured by HOMA-β. This could be potentially because of fall in βcell requirement with the improvement of insulin resistance rather than a reduction of βcell function.
