The effect of antioxidants on Helicobacter pylori eradication: A systematic review with meta-analysis
Helicobacter Sep 12, 2018
Yang-Ou YB, et al. - Researchers assessed the safety and effectiveness of adding antioxidants (vitamin, N-acetylcysteine, curcumin, cranberry) to triple or quadruple therapy for Helicobacter pylori eradication via a systematic search of PubMed, EMBASE, and the Cochrane Library databases. Results of this study suggested that the addition of antioxidants to amoxicillin-clarithromycin-based therapy may help improve the rate of eradication. It was noted that the eradication regimen with high-dosage vitamin supplementation (1,400 mg/day) exhibited a significant, superior efficacy in eradication vs those without supplementation. On improving side effects, antioxidant supplements have no impact.
