The effect of age in patients with acquired aplastic anaemia treated with immunosuppressive therapy: Comparison of adolescents and young adults with children and older adults
British Journal of Haematology Nov 15, 2018
Cabannes-Hamy A, et al. - This retrospective study investigated the effect of age in patients with acquired aplastic anaemia (AA) treated with immunosuppressive therapy (IST). For this investigation, they compared the outcome of 29 children aged <15 years, 32 adolescents and young adults (AYA) aged 15 to 25 years and 23 adults aged >25 years with AA treated front-line with IST in Saint-Louis Hospital. In AA patients treated with IST, age is a prognostic factor. In terms of response rate and survival, however, AYA patients have a comparable outcome for children.
