Hendrix N, et al. - This paper dealt with the estimation of the health system and household costs for episodes of diarrhoeal illness in Malawi. This disease displayed prominent financial burden to the healthcare system and to households. The latter faced the risk of consequent impoverishment, illustrated how the costs of seeking treatment brought the income of maximum families in all income strata below the national poverty line in the month of illness.
