Saleh A, et al. - Authors performed a systematic review of all reported synovial fluid markers for the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection and a meta-analysis of the most frequently reported markers to identify those of greatest diagnostic utility. They recognized C-reactive protein, leukocyte esterase, interleukin-6, interleukin-1β, α-defensin, and interleukin-17 as the most frequently studied synovial fluid markers for the diagnosis of periprosthetic joint infection. All of these seemed to have high diagnostic utility.
