The diagnostic performance of MRI for detection of extramural venous invasion in colorectal cancer: A systematic review and meta-analysis of the literature
American Journal of Roentgenology May 13, 2019
Kim TH, et al. - Via searching PubMed and EMBASE up to November 9, 2018, researchers conducted a systematic review and meta-analysis to detect extramural venous invasion (EMVI) in patients with colorectal cancer regarding the diagnostic test accuracy of MRI. Data reported that pooled sensitivity was 0.61 and pooled specificity was 0.87. Findings revealed that there was no statistically significant location of the primary tumor, preoperative treatment status, study design, reference standard definition, magnetic field strength, and use of functional MRI were not statistically significant. For the detection of EMVI in colorectal cancer, MRI reveals moderate sensitivity and good specificity. Using high-resolution MRI can improve the performance of diagnostics.
