The development and validation of the laryngopharyngeal measure of perceived sensation
The Laryngoscope Nov 22, 2020
Melancon CC, Russell GB, Ruckart K, et al. - In the present study, the researchers sought to develop a modernized, practical, validated patient‐reported outcome measure (PROM) for assessing globus pharyngeus (GP) symptom severity. The final questionnaire, called the Laryngopharyngeal Measure of Perceived Sensation (LUMP questionnaire), consisted of eight items. A 19‐item questionnaire was created from an expert panel and was then administered to 110 patients, 100 of whom met the criteria for inclusion. Preliminary findings indicate that the eight‐item LUMP questionnaire is a valuable PROM for determining the severity of GP symptom.
