The detrimental effect of cell phone radiation on sperm biological characteristics in normozoospermic
Andrologia Oct 14, 2021
Hassanzadeh-Taheri M, Khalili MA, Mohebati AH, et al. - Findings demonstrate a detrimental impact of cell phone waves on human sperm's biological features. Hence, cell phones should be kept away from the pelvis as much as possible.
Normal sperm samples were categorized as control and case.
Samples from the case were placed for 60 min at a distance of about 2.5 cm from the cell phone set in the active antenna position, and control samples were exposed to cell phones without active antennas.
Applying World Health Organization criteria, all specimens were examined.
Significantly lower viability and motility was seen in samples from the case vs controls.
Case samples showed a significantly higher percentage of apoptotic sperms and DNA fragmentation than controls.
No significant difference in other parameters, such as morphology, chromatin abnormality, and maturity, was seen between the case and control groups.
