The course of pain hypersensitivity according to painDETECT in patients with rheumatoid arthritis initiating treatment: Results from the prospective FRAME-cohort study
Arthritis Research & Therapy Jun 05, 2018
Rifbjerg-Madsen S, et al. - Experts assessed the prognostic value of pain classification in patients with rheumatoid arthritis at treatment initiation using the painDETECT questionnaire (PDQ). Results did not demonstrate the association of a high PDQ score (non-nociceptive pain) at baseline with worse outcomes in RA patients, in fact, these patients had numerically greater improvement in DAS28-CRP. Nonetheless, there was no independent association between the pain classification by PDQ and the change in DAS28-CRP, RAMRIS score, or VAS pain in the prognostic models. Moreover, pain classification group was changed by patients classified with a high baseline PDQ score. Reduced numerically treatment response was seen in patients with unclear pain mechanism.
