The course of asthma during pregnancy in a recent, multicase–control study on respiratory health
Allergy, Asthma & Clinical Immunology Apr 24, 2018
Grosso A, et al. - Whether the prevalence of worsening asthma during pregnancy is still consistent with prior estimate or it has been reduced, was investigated using only clinical data for subjects that completed the clinical stage of the Gene Environment Interactions in Respiratory Diseases (GEIRD) study. During pregnancy, asthma was seen to worsen in a percentage much lower to that generally reported in all the previous studies. Women with an older age of onset of asthma more frequently suffered asthma worsening. By improving asthma control, with a more structured approach to asthma education and management prepregnancy, asthma worsening can still be further attenuated in clinical practice.
