The contribution of the basophil activation test to the diagnosis of hypersensitivity reactions to oxaliplatin
International Archives of Allergy and Immunology Jul 27, 2018
Ornelas C, et al. - Whether basophil activation test (BAT) contributes to the diagnosis of hypersensitivity reactions to oxaliplatin, was determined by comparing the expression of CD63 and CD203c molecules. Included subjects were 6 oncological patients with previous documented hypersensitivity reactions to oxaliplatin and 5 controls (4 oncological patients tolerant to oxaliplatin and 1 healthy control). Findings suggested the possible utility of BAT as a promising alternative to skin tests. In patients with previous hypersensitivity reactions vs controls, a higher positivity of BAT with oxaliplatin was observed. Consistent to the literature data, CD203c appeared to play a more prominent role than CD63.
