The comparative efficacy and safety of topical and intravenous tranexamic acid for reducing perioperative blood loss in total knee arthroplasty: A randomized controlled non-inferiority trial

George J, et al. - In this study, efficacy, as well as safety of intraarticular (IA) and intravenous (IV) routes of administering tranexamic acid (TXA) in total knee arthroplasty (TKA), was investigated. Findings revealed that in terms of efficacy and safety, IA TXA was not inferior to IV TXA and may be preferred considering ease of administration and lack of systemic absorption.
