The comorbidity burden of hidradenitis suppurativa in the United States: A claims data analysis

Kimball AB, et al. - Experts used a large US claims database to evaluate the comorbidity burden associated with hidradenitis suppurativa (HS), stratified by disease severity. The investigators found a greater prevalence of several physical and mental comorbidities in both cohorts of patients with milder and more severe forms of HS vs their matched HS-free cohorts. The complexity of the comorbidity burden of patients with HS and the need for a multidisciplinary approach to optimize the management of HS and its numerous associated comorbidities were highlighted in the findings.
