The clinicopathological significance of micropapillary pattern in colorectal cancers
Human Pathology Apr 12, 2018
Pyo JS, et al. - Authors intended to describe the clinicopathological importance and prognostic role of micropapillary pattern (MPP) in colorectal cancer (CRC). A prominent connection was disclosed between the presence of MPP with worse overall survival. In 74 CRCs with MPP, it was found that the overall survival exhibited a notable variation between pure MPP and MPP in mucin pools. CRC with MPP presented with higher rates of vascular and lymphatic invasion, higher metastatic lymph node ratio, and higher pT stage than CRC without MPP. Data demonstrated that the presence of MPP displayed a significant association with aggressive tumor behavior and worse survival in CRC.
