The clinical value of serum squamous cell carcinoma antigens 1 and 2 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma
Auris Nasus Larynx Aug 08, 2018
Yasumatsu R, et al. - Researchers assessed the clinical utility of serum squamous cell carcinoma (SSC) antigen, SCCA1 and SCCA2 in the managing patients with head and neck SCC. Experts took the serum samples of SCCA1, SCCA2 and SCC antigen from head and neck SCC patients prior to treatment for the analysis. During progression of cancer, the serum SCCA2 levels were raised; SCCA2 levels higher than 0.15 were demonstrated by 72% of head and neck SCC patients, whereas SCCA2 levels less than 0.15 were seen in 68% of the control subjects. For management of head and neck SCC, SCCA2 might be a useful tool.
