The clinical significance of PINX1 expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma
Human Pathology Jul 20, 2018
Kang JH, et al. - By analyzing the association between PIN2/TERF1 interacting telomerase inhibitor 1 (PINX1) expression and various clinicopathological factors, researchers examined the role of PINX1 expression in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). Using a tissue microarray of samples taken from 160 patients with PTC, immunohistochemistry for PINX1 was performed. In patients with PTC, PINX1 was highly expressed, and was positively correlated with poor clinicopathological features (tumor size, lymph node metastasis, telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) promoter mutation and recurrence) and recurrence. Results of this study suggested that PINX1 expression could be a beneficial prognostic marker in PTC patients.
