The clinical significance of methylation of MAGE-A1 and-A3 promoters and expression of DNA methyltransferase in patients with laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma
American Journal of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Medicine and Surgery Oct 29, 2019
Liu S, Zhao Y, Xu Y, et al. - Using methylation special PCR, researchers examined the methylation levels of MAGE-A1, -A3 in laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) and corresponding normal tissues. DNA methyltransferases [DNMTs] (DNMT1, DNMT3a and DNMT3b) expression in LSCC and the connection between the methylation status of MAGE-A1, -A3 were examined. Data reported that MAGE-A1, -A3 unmethylation rates were 39.62% and 46.23%. The level of MAGE-A1 and MAGE-A3 demethylation was negative with respect to DNMTs protein. Independent prognostic factors for LSCC were MAGE-A1 and MAGE-A3 unmethylation status and DNMT3a expression. Findings suggested that the DNMTs may be involved in the MAGE-A1 and MAGE-A3 methylation process, which may play an important role in LSCC occurrence and development.
