The clinical features and prognosis of patients with mucinous breast carcinoma compared with those with infiltrating ductal carcinoma: A population-based study
BMC Cancer May 15, 2021
Zhou X, Zheng Z, Li Y, et al. - This study sought to correlate the clinical features of mucinous breast carcinoma (MBC) with those of infiltrating ductal carcinoma (IDC) and summarized the relevant prognostic factors. Between 2004 and 2016, the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database includes information on 10,593 patients diagnosed with MBC. Researchers used Chi-square tests and analyses to examine differences in variables between the MBC and IDC groups. The relative impacts of risk factors on cancer-specific survival (CSS) in patients was assessed by using univariate and multivariate Cox proportional hazards models. Kaplan-Meier survival curves were developed to evaluate cancer-specific mortality and were compared using the log-rank test. As per the data, MBC has a better prognosis in comparison with IDC. They distinguished prognostic factors that can help clinicians better assess patient outcomes and guide individualized treatment for patients with MBC.
