Barr DA - This study executed an assessment of the relationship between high levels of childhood stress and the early development of atherosclerosis. The findings revealed the recommendation of The American Academy of Pediatrics that the pediatricians and other health care professionals ought to screen for toxic stress among children during their early years and to implement steps known to reduce stress reactivity. This would aid these children to reduce their risk of early atherosclerotic changes and increased cardiovascular disease (CVD) throughout the life course.
