The associations of dietary patterns with all-cause mortality and other lifestyle factors in the elderly: An age-specific prospective cohort study

Clinical Nutrition Jan 26, 2018

Zhao W, et al. - Researchers investigated the association of dietary pattern with subsequent overall mortality in elderly Japanese. In addition, they demonstrated the modifiable effect of lifestyle factors on this association. The associations of 3 patterns (meat-fat, healthy, and dairy-bread) with overall mortality could be modified with tobacco use, alcohol consumption, and daily walking duration. Among elderly populations, healthy eating along with other healthy lifestyle factors could decrease the overall mortality risk.
