Liu CF, et al. - In this cross-sectional study, the associations between liver enzymes and the risk of metabolic syndrome (MetS) were assessed in elderly populations. Findings demonstrated positive associations of elevated liver enzymes levels (mainly alanine aminotransferase, gamma-glutamyltransferase and alkaline phosphatase but not aspartate aminotransferase) with the prevalence of MetS in elderly populations.
