The association of sleep duration and quality with all-cause and cause-specific mortality in the Women's Health Initiative
Sleep Medicine Jun 06, 2018
Kabat GC, et al. - Using data from the Women’s Health Initiative, researchers investigated the relationships of sleep duration, insomnia, and use of sleep aids with death from cardiovascular disease (CVD), cancer, other causes, and all causes combined. They used Cox proportional hazards models in the analysis of baseline data and in time-dependent analyses of repeated measures to estimate relationships of sleep-related factors with mortality. They reported that insomnia was not correlated with mortality, while use of sleep aids was positively associated with mortality. Data also revealed a small but robust relationship of sleep duration with mortality in postmenopausal women.
