The association of late-life depression with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among community-dwelling older adults: Systematic review and meta-analysis
The British Journal of Psychiatry Jul 15, 2019
Wei J, et al. - Via performing a systematic review and meta-analysis of 61 prospective cohort studies from 53 cohorts with 198,589 participants, researchers assessed association of late-life depression with all-cause and cardiovascular mortality among community-dwelling older adults. All-cause mortality was reported in a total of 49 cohorts, and cardiovascular mortality was reported in 15 cohorts. The analysis revealed an increased risk of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality in correlation to late-life depression. Associations existed among various subgroups by age, sex, regions of studies, follow-up periods, and assessment methods of late-life depression.
