The association of intracranial vascular calcification and stenosis with acute ischemic cerebrovascular events
Journal of Computer Assisted Tomography Nov 18, 2017
Quiney B, et al. - Researchers in this work determined the association of intracranial artery calcification (IAC) with acute downstream ischemic stroke (dAIS)/transient ischemic attack while considering stenosis. IAC was a significant risk factor for dAIS in the absence of concurrent stenosis. IAC did not increase the association with dAIS when stenosis was present. As represented in the histology literature, stenotic and nonstenotic calcifications might express different disease processes.
