The association of cancer-related fatigue with all-cause mortality of colorectal and endometrial cancer survivors: Results from the population-based PROFILES registry
Cancer Medicine Apr 26, 2019
Adam S, et al. - In this study including 2,059 short-term (<5 years postdiagnosis) cancer survivors from four PROFILES (Patient Reported Outcomes Following Initial treatment and Long-term Evaluation of Survivorship) registry studies, researchers examined the link between cancer-related fatigue (CRF) and all-cause mortality by performing Cox proportional hazards models adjusted for demographic, clinical, and lifestyle features. In male colorectal cancer survivors, findings revealed a significant correlation between CRF and all-cause mortality, regardless of potential confounders. Keeping these findings in mind, clinicians were recommended to increase their attention towards the identification and treatment of CRF. Prevalence of CRF varied between 35.8% (male CRC) and 43.6% (female CRC).
