The association of aspirin use with survival following radical cystectomy
The Journal of Urology Jun 03, 2018
Lyon TD, et al. - Experts assessed the relationship of aspirin with survival following radical cystectomy (RC). They evaluated the survival estimates using the Kaplan-Meier method and utilized the Cox proportional hazards models to evaluate relationships between patient features and survival. Findings suggested an association of daily aspirin use with significantly improved survival outcomes after RC. The following features were noted in the aspirin users: These subjects were significantly older, more likely to have a history of cardiovascular disease and diabetes, and more likely to be using metformin or statins. Also, after multivariable adjustment, they noted an independent association of the aspirin use with lower cancer-specific as well as all-cause mortality but not distant metastasis.
