The association between the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio and mortality in patients with acute respiratory distress syndrome: A retrospective cohort study

Li W, et al. – Given the role of neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) as an established prognostic inflammatory biomarker in various diseases, researchers explored its prognostic value in patients with s acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU). Of the 224 patients included in the final analysis, the investigators identified high NLR to be associated with the poor outcome in critically ill patients with ARDS. Overall, they noted that NLR appears to be a prognostic biomarker of outcomes in patients with ARDS.
