The association between the Mediterranean diet and magnetic resonance parameters for knee osteoarthritis: Data from the Osteoarthritis Initiative
Clinical Rheumatology Apr 08, 2018
Veronese N, et al. - Experts probed the relationship between adherence to the Mediterranean diet and knee cartilage morphology, assessed using magnetic resonance (MRI) in a cohort of North American participants. Out of the total participants in the Osteoarthritis Initiative, 59.8% were females with a mean age of 62.3 years. They evaluated the adherence to the Mediterranean diet using a validated Mediterranean diet score (aMED). Findings suggested an association between higher adherence to a Mediterranean diet and significant improvement in knee cartilage as assessed by MRI, even after adjusting for potential confounding factors.
