The association between rhabdomyolysis, acute kidney injury, renal replacement therapy, and mortality
Clinical Epidemiology Sep 29, 2020
Nielsen FE, Cordtz JJ, Rasmussen TB, et al. - Using a cohort of cases admitted with rhabdomyolysis from November 1, 2011 to March 1, 2014, researchers assessed the risk of acute kidney injury, renal replacement therapy, and death within 30 days, in correlation with creatine phosphokinase level in rhabdomyolysis patients. This analysis involved 1,027 patients (58.2% male) with a median age of 73.5 years. Findings revealed an increased risk of acute kidney injury in relation to elevated initial creatine phosphokinase values, while in this study the estimates of the risk of renal replacement therapy and mortality were imprecise.
