The association between pleural fluid exposure and survival in pleural mesothelioma
Chest Jun 15, 2021
Asciak R, Kanellakis NI, Bibby A, et al. - Researchers investigated whether pleural fluid exposure has any relation with survival in malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM). They obtained data, including factors earlier recognized as influencing prognosis in MPM, from 761 patients diagnosed with MPM between 2008-2018. A median overall survival of 278 days was noted. Seemingly, pleurodesis success was related to improved survival, but it remained unclear if duration of MPM exposure to pleural fluid was related to survival within the limitations of this retrospective analysis.
