The association between platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio with mortality among patients suffering from acute decompensated heart failure

BMC Cardiovascular Disorders Sep 23, 2021

Heidarpour M, Bashiri S, Vakhshoori M, et al. - Findings showed that platelet-to-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), an inflammation index, could not be employed as an independent prognostic factor among patients suffering from acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF).

  • This retrospective cohort study involved 405 Iranian individuals with ADHF, with mean age 65.9 ± 13.49 years (males: 67.7%).

  • No significant association was found between PLR status and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) mortality or re-hospitalization.

  • A minimally decreased probability of CVDs death in 2nd quartile vs the first one (hazard ratio 0.40) was revealed in multivariate analysis of PLR quartiles.

  • Creatinine increase had no remarkable association with PLR status in neither model.
