The association between overactive bladder and falls and fractures: A systematic review
Advances in Therapy Nov 17, 2018
Szabo SM, et al. - In patients with overactive bladder (OAB), researchers intended to synthesize estimates of the risk of falls and fractures via systematically searching Medline, EMBASE, the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, and Scopus for observational studies that focused on patients with OAB. For this investigation, they performed double independent review and data extraction. A higher risk of falls was observed in patients with OAB vs those without in studies that included a non-OAB comparison sample. The risk was higher for women who were 65 years of age or older. The evidence in the literature shows clearly the significance of OAB and its symptoms as risk factors for falling and fracturing.
