The association between morning blood pressure and subclinical target organ damage in the normotensive population
Journal of Hypertension Jun 04, 2019
Ye R, et al. - Researchers investigated the link between isolatedly elevated morning blood pressure (BP) and subclinical target organ damage in normotensive subjects (n=287) in this cross-sectional study. They performed anthropometric measurements, serum biochemistry evaluation, 24-hour ambulatory BP monitoring, echocardiography, and carotid ultrasonography for all participants. The strongest correlation with left ventricular mass index was shown by morning surge in multiple regression analysis. For the detection of abnormal morning surge, the investigators recommended home monitoring of morning BP.
